Gavin Burnett is a Manchester-based photographer with a passion for capturing people, places, and stories through environmental portraiture and travel photography. His journey behind the lens began with a life-shaping experience at the age of 13, when he spent a month in communist Russia—a trip that sparked a lasting curiosity about the world and its diverse cultures. Since then, Gavin has focused on telling authentic, human-centered stories through photography, blending his love for exploration with a thoughtful, documentary approach. Whether working locally or abroad, his aim is always the same: to create honest, visually striking images that connect people to the world around them. His travels have taken him to 60 countries and 7 continents.
His photography has been featured in a wide range of publications, including Sunday Times Travel Magazine, Wanderlust, National Geographic Traveller UK, Telegraph Travel, The Independent, Silversea, TPOTY, and various commercial brochures. He has received recognition through multiple competition wins and shortlists, notably as a runner-up in the 2024 National Geographic Traveller photography competition and winner of the Inntravel 'Slow Moments' competition. His work has also been exhibited in galleries across the UK and Europe.
Recent trips include: Argentina, Antarctica, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro, Sri Lanka and Italy. Up next Ladakh and Morocco.
He is available for assignment or commission both locally and internationally, specialising in travel photography. He has undertaken assignments for both Tourism Boards and private companies.
